Case Study 2 - Green Netting

The Waste Exchange was informed by Chamber Business and the
Local Authority that a local building company had approached
the Council to try and identify an alternative to disposing
of 14 storey's worth of green netting which had been used to
cover a block of flats during refurbishment. The Exchange was
quickly able to identify a company that could make use of the
netting who subsequently collected the entire quantity of netting.
Both parties were extremely pleased with the outcome.

company as and when they have sufficient quantities available.

The Exchange was able to put the company in contact
with another Exchange member and they subsequently collected approximately
100 boxes as well as a couple of pallets and cable reels for trial.

The waste recycling company contacted the Exchange
after identifying a number of materials of interest through an
internet search. The company is developing markets for industrial
waste products. The company is successfully diverting waste materials
away from landfill and is utilising these as industrial raw materials. |

Case Study 6
Material Holder: Building materials company
Material Receiver: Composting and recycling company
Material: Fired tiles and bricks |

The successful exchange of fired clay tiles and
bricks has been made between a building materials company and
a composting and recycling company. Approximately 500 tonnes of
the tiles and bricks are picked up every year from the building
materials company by the exchange company saving the building
materials company approximately £4,500/year in waste disposal
costs. |

Case Study 7
Material Holder: Engineering company
Material Receiver: Oil recycling company
Material: Waste oil mixture |

A successful exchange of an oil mixture was made
between an industrial company specialising in the bending of tubes
and an oil recycling company. The exchange will involve approximately
18,000 litres of waste oil a year saving the company approximately
£2,000 a year in waste disposal costs.

Case Study 8
Material Holder: Rubber manufacturer

A successful exchange was made between a rubber
manufacturing company and a local play and resources centre. The
exchange involves large rubber mats and Perspex cutting boards
and occurs every 2-3 months. The rubber mats have proved very
popular at the centre for floor coverings and play use and have
been sent around the country to other play and resource centres.
